# Writing as decimals

So maybe I can write it like this: sixty-three and fifteen hundredths. You need a common denominator. Sixty-three and one tenth and five hundredths is hard for most people's brains to process. There's one common way of doing this, but we'll talk about the different ways you could express this as a word.

Well, the stuff to the left of the decimal point is pretty straightforward. Without it we are lost, and don't know what each position means. The decimal point is the most important part of a Decimal Number. But we must first put a decimal point, so we know exactly where the Ones position is: "three hundred twenty seven and four tenths" but we usually just say "three hundred twenty seven point four" And that is a Decimal Number!
